SCW is a leading provider of Child Health Information Services (CHIS) and plays a critical role in immunisation scheduling and monitoring for newborn screening.
Child Health Information Services explained
CHIS works with maternity units, general practices, health visitors, school nurses, and local authorities to monitor and improve the uptake of national childhood screening and immunisation programmes. We notify health visitors of all new births and of children who have moved into their area and ensure all babies have received their newborn screening. CHIS also ensures that children aged between 0-5 years receive appointments at the correct age for NHS routine childhood immunisations and we monitor that school-aged children have had the immunisations they are due.
CHIS currently has a work programme liaising with all of our stakeholders to achieve the capturing and recording of all interventions just once at the point of contact and then shared digitally with all who have a legitimate reason to view.
SCW CHIS provides:
A fail-safe function across health and care settings and geographical boundaries to ensure that all 0-19 yr olds in our area are offered and have received appropriate Immunisations and Screenings. Our health and care partners include:
