SCW win at the GO National Public Procurement Awards 2020 in fifth consecutive year as finalist.

We are delighted to announce that SCW has been awarded both the Government Opportunities Market Development Award and highly commended for the Government Opportunities Project of the Year (above-£20m value) Award at this year's UK National GO Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2020. The virtual ceremony was held on Friday 17 July following the postponement of the event in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The GO Awards focus on recognising innovative procurement practices across the UK so it was fitting that the event organiser, BiP Solutions, took the bold decision to run the Awards ceremony online for the very first time. With all of the challenges faced in delivering effective and high value public services, now is absolutely the time to recognise and showcase procurement’s role.

SCW was one of the highly regarded organisations recognised on the day for excellence in procurement and it was a major recognition of the work being delivered by our team and partners.

The GO Market Development Award was received for building a Modern Gender Dysphoria Service for Britain to achieve a future delivery and configuration of the specialised services that were sustainable and offered an optimal model of care, characterised by timely and equitable access to the range of available interventions, consistent delivery models and excellent patient experience.

SCW was awarded highly commended for Project of the Year above £20M for the redesign of orthodontic services across NHS England which covered a complex collaborative re-procurement of 97 Orthodontic-contracts across the south-of-England valued at £0.57bn-total-contract-life. Due to the number of contracts, the immature nature of the marketplace and the repetition of tasks the procurement strategy determined management via the establishment of a Dynamic-Purchasing-System (DPS) on a pan-Regional-basis which allowed a competitive approach to market.

Faye Robinson, SCW Director of Specialist Services, said:

'I remain in awe of the work that the procurement team does on a day to day basis and to continue to be recognised by our national peers is fantastic.  I am extremely proud of the tenacity and drive we have as a team and the willingness for everyone to go the extra mile to ensure we deliver high quality services.'

Grahame Steed, Lead Judge for the GO Awards Programme, said:

'Right now, procurement is front-page news with public service delivery at the forefront of economic recovery. That is why this year, it was more important than ever for our GO Awards to take place, and once again recognise the people and organisations making great procurement happen.

Given innovation is a key driver for change in public sector procurement, we took inspiration from the very people we are celebrating, through delivering a full Awards programme in an online and interactive environment for the first time ever; thanks in no small part to our many sponsors and partners.

'Congratulations to all our highly commended and winning organisations, including SCW, on their well-deserved success.’
